"And the secret garden bloomed and bloomed every morning revealing new miracles." - Frances Hodgson Burnett
Living Art USA was started by Jane Morocco in 2010. Living Art's founder and leader is an accomplished author, environmentalist, philanthropist and community activist. Her vision statement for Living Art USA is based on family values and giving back to the community..."Making the world a greener place".
The following is the story of Living Art by Jane Morocco...
"Growing up in River Forest, Illinois, my family upbringing was never the norm. My mom, known as "Mother Prairie" at the local college was a teacher, botanist and biologist. As a child, my home was always full of pets, wildlife and plants of all varieties. I worked at the local Forest Preserve District of Cook County throughout my teenage years. I learned at an early age the importance of plants and wildlife to our environment.
After college, I went to work for a large plant design and installation company and soon after started my own firm called "The Plant Lady". I started looking at plants as works of art and looked at my life's work as assurance that my actions were not harmful to the environment and community. It seemed like the right thing to do.
I have always been a supporter of sustainability and as our world changed....especially for those of us living and working in smaller urban spaces, I found the need for eco-friendly products and plants that did not require an abundance of space or natural light to grow. Living Art USA was born primarily to educate and make it simple for urban apartment dwellers with children and even pets, to buy and care for indoor plants, but these plants needed very much to fit within their lifestyle and environment.
Living Art USA is all about people connecting with plants. Just like a painting on canvas, we all have a very emotional and personal relationship with our plants. What I try to do is bring to your home an eco-friendly environment which is cleaner, healthier and less stressful for you, your family, friends and pets. Hopefully, Making your world a greener place."

There is a lovely story, a legend really about the pretty poinsettia flower that comes from Mexico. One Christmas Eve, two poor children set out for church. They wanted to bring a gift to the Baby Jesus in the manger but were too poor to buy anything. They decided to pull some weeds along the road. It is said that when the children placed the weedy plants around the manger, they miraculously turned into bright star-like flowers that we see today.
Whatever you believe , the poinsettia is one of the prettiest flowers to give as gift or to brighten your own home during the holiday season.
As a pet and plant owner, the health and safety of my pets is very important to me. There are many plants that are toxic to pets. Some, you probably have in your home right now. I have created a list of not only pet-safe plants, but plants which are beautiful greenery for your home. Besides being safe around all pets and children, these plants also have benefits to us humans, such as air-purifying benefits which help us reduce our daily stress. It is important to note, I always recommend to pet owners to do their own research and select plants based on your own pet's behavior. Too much nibbling of any plant, pet-safe or not will cause an upset stomach.
Here's my list of the best pet-friendly plants...
